Ben Woloshin

Ben is a senior global financial services professional with 30 years of asset management experience in distribution, product development and capital markets. Most recently, Ben was Managing Director and Head of Relationship Management for Direxion ETF's where he was responsible for placing a new suite of ETFs on wealth management platforms. Prior to that, Ben was Head of Beta Strategies for BlackRock/iShares Retail Insurance. In this role, Ben was responsible for the team that utilized ETF based solutions for major U.S. Insurers Wealth Management, Variable/Fixed Index Annuities and General Account segments. Ben pioneered the use of ETFs as "financial instruments" for the annuity segment helping insurers with their hedging programs which resulted in multi-billions of dollars in ETF AUM. Earlier in his career, Ben had roles of increasing responsibility at: Putnam Investments, Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and New York Life Investments.

Previous to this role Frank led the Institutional Transfer Agency business unit. Frank has been with State Street for over 18 years, joining the firm as a part of the IBT acquisition. He has 34 years of experience in the financial services industry. While at Investors Bank and Trust, Frank was responsible for the Transfer Agent teams in Europe and the US. Additionally, Frank ran the Institutional Custody / Wealth Management group; providing back office services to banks, endowments, foundations and registered investment advisors. Prior to joining Investors Bank and Trust, Frank held diverse roles at PaineWebber, the National Securities Clearing Corporation, First Data and PFPC. This included operations management, product development and marketing. Herb Blank is the Head of the Product Strategy practice at Global Finesse LLC, a 10-year consulting firm serving the FinTech and investment product industries. He provides ESG, ETF, enhanced indexing and alternative data expertise. During the past 35 years Herb has been involved in quantitative risk management, ESG modeling, ETF product development, portfolio management, product strategy, and business development. In fact, Herb was the first portfolio manager of ETFs in the US, managing nine ETFs for the Country Baskets Index Fund Series as a Director for Deutsche Bank Securities in 1996. He also assisted in the launches of iShares for Barclays Global Investors (now part of BlackRock) and GLD for the World Gold Council. Other industry achievements include serving as product manager for ESG and Structured Solutions for S-Network Global Indexes. Since managing the Fidelity Social Principles Fund in 1987, Herb has been involved in what ESG investments for more than 30 years and provided onsite Social Research quantitative modeling services for the Calvert Investments Social Research Group. He also created industry-specific ESG models for 5,000 companies covered by Thomson Reuters Asset4 and co-authored "Best Practices in ESG Investing" article published in Journal of Investing. Herb is a frequently published author and a well-recognized name from his 22 years helping to guide QWAFAFEW, a global society of investment quants. He holds an MBA from NYU Stern and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hyland is a long time investment fund executive within the U.S. mutual fund and Exchange Traded Fund industries. His roles have included acting as a security analyst, a mutual fund Portfolio Manager, as the Head of Research, as Chief Investment Officer, and as Chief Executive Officer. His area of specialty has been as diverse as Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS), Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS), Commodities, Emerging Market Equities, and cryptocurrencies. Within the ETF industry Mr. Hyland is best known for having been the C.I.O of the United States Commodity Funds and developing a large family of exchange traded commodity funds. This included the United States Oil Fund (ticker: USO), the first and largest crude oil ETF in the United States. He currently sits on the board of a large U.S. based mutual fund family and consults on the development of non-traditional ETFs including cryptocurrency focused funds and active, non-fully transparent ETFs. Most recently he is the author of the article [“What the Australian ETF market can teach U.S. investors about trading active, non-fully transparent ETFs”.] Mr. Hyland has been a frequent speaker at financial conferences focused on ETFs and/or commodity investing. In the last twelve years, he has spoken at over 100 conferences. The majority of these conferences were held in the United States, but he has spoken at conferences in locations as widely spread out as Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and Dubai. Mr. Hyland is well known in the financial press and has been quoted or referenced in over 200 articles in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Bloomberg/Business Week, ETF.com, ETFTrends.com, ETFDB.com. He has been interviewed on CNBC, Fox Business Channel, and Bloomberg TV over a dozen times, and publically testified on TV to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. He is the author or co-author of a number of books and articles, including Exchange-Traded Funds: Conceptual and Practical Investment Approaches (2009), and “Index Choice Matters in Commodities” in the Journal of Indexes (2014). He is a former President of the CFA Society of San Francisco. He is also a member of the CFA Institute. Mr. Hyland was awarded his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1994. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.

Prior to joining U.S. Bancorp Fund Services, Castino worked at Zacks Investment Management as the managing director of its index services division. He also held the position of vice president of institutional sales for Claymore ETFs, now Guggenheim Funds, and was a senior floor trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for a major Wall Street trading firm. Prior to founding Warwick Shore Advisors, Paul served as a portfolio manager with WaterOak Advisors, a SECregistered investment adviser with $2.1B in assets under management. During his tenure with WaterOak Advisors, he provided analytical research and portfolio management for the firm’s tactical ETF and equity mutual funds, separately managed account strategies and private wealth client investment portfolios. Prior to WaterOak Advisors, Paul served as an Investment Management Associate and Junior Underwriter at Wells Fargo & Company. After spending a portion of his early childhood in Asia, Paul's family relocated to Florida. Since then he has lived in the Central Florida area and still resides in Orlando with his wife and 3 children. Nicholas J. Elward is a Senior Vice President, and Head of Institutional Product and ETFs in the Strategic Product and Marketing Group at Natixis Investment Managers. Mr. Elward is responsible for product research and product development for a wide range of product types including ETFs, hedge funds and bank commingled products and for overseeing the ETF business. In addition, he is a member of the firm’s Business Innovation Group, which works to address technology shifts in financial services, and has over 23 years of investment industry experience. Prior to joining Natixis, Mr. Elward was a vice president of State Street Global Advisors and a senior product manager in the Global Product & Marketing Group. He previously spent 14 years at Fidelity Investments working in a combination of US and international client-facing, product development and product marketing positions. His track record includes research and development that spans equity, fixed income, liquid alternatives, retirement solutions, emerging markets, global macro, infrastructure, green products, MLPs, and mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Mr. Elward worked to launch the ETF business for Natixis. In addition to his work in the investment industry, Mr. Elward is an adjunct professor at Endicott College in Beverly, MA, where he teaches Product and Marketing classes in the MBA program. Mr. Elward received his BA in political science from the College of the Holy Cross and his MBA from Northeastern University. He enjoys volunteering for charities focused on homelessness and children’s causes. He currently volunteers for the Pine Street Inn, St. Francis House and the Ellis School, all in Boston.
